WOMEN LEADERSHIP IS NEEDED THROUGHOUT THE FLEET!!!

Females looking for shore duty, other than in their rate and wish to expand their leadership skills are a great fit for this Program!

The Women Ashore Program consists of 162 billets, ranging from E4-E6, that are specifically for ALL Active Duty female Sailors whom are fit for full duty and are eligible for their Shore Duty rotation.  There is a variety of duties that are available for these female Sailors ranging from Brig, TPU, SERE, and instructor duties, to basic duty onboard Naval Stations both stateside and overseas.

Women Ashore billets are advertised in My Navy Assignments (MNA) under the 9999 NEC.  After speaking with your detailer, Sailors can submit an application in MNA upon entering their permanent change of station orders negotiation window, 12 months prior to their projected rotation date. The selection phase is the same as rating detailer.

If selected for a Women Ashore duty billet, the special programs detailer will work with a Sailor's rating detailer to get them released.  The required obligated service for the program is 36 months.  Depending on the type of duty a Sailor is selected for will decipher the type of screening that will be required.  All Sailors who are selected for TPU, Brig, SERE, or NACIC duty under the Women Ashore Program will be required to complete a special programs screening  as outlined in the respective MILPERSMAN articles.

There are currently 35 different UIC's that encompass these billets in their overall manning.

Instructor Duty
Instructor duty TSC Great Lakes E-6 billets

*** TSC Great Lakes duties are primarily designated for Navy Military Training Instructor (NMTI) duty.  NMTIs at Great Lakes perform essential Sailorization functions for thousands of apprentice level (“A” School) students following their initial accession training at Recruit Training Command (RTC), Great Lakes.  Earn your 805A Instructor NEC enroute.

Transient Personnel Unit (TPU)
*** TPU is responsible for the efficient and expeditious processing of all transient personnel assigned and the operation of the disciplinary barracks.  TPU administrative offices are where teams of a Personnel Support Detachment and TPU staff work together to process Navy Personnel who are on their way to their next command or waiting to be discharged to the civilian community.  The customers are Sailors traveling to a deployed or underway command, personnel being separated from a deployed or overseas command who have orders and personnel transitioning between two commands.

Brig Duty
*** Brig duty enables Sailors to develop their leadership skills through work in a challenging and demanding environment.  Duties include guarding, directing, guiding, mentoring and training incarcerated men and women for successful reintegration into civilian society.  The women of Navy corrections are leaders and models of conduct and behavior; they bear the standard for others to emulate.  Those selected for Brig Staff Duty will undergo three weeks of Corrections Specialist Training at the Naval Corrections Academy in San Antonio, where they will earn the 826A Correctional Custody Specialist Ashore NEC.
