Additional Qualification Designators (AQDs)
Additional Qualification Designators (AQDs) are used to denote special qualifications you have obtained in your career.  These qualifications play an important role in documenting your achievements and provide Selection and Screening Board members with an overview of key qualifications.

AQDs show up in two places: 1) at the bottom of your Performance Summary Record (PSR) cover page and 2) in the far right column of your Officer Data Card (ODC).  The next time you review your record, take a look and ensure your qualifications are documented.

Summarized below are some important AQDs (tailored to more Junior Officers).  There are literally thousands of AQDs in the Navy, but these are the most common.  For a complete listing, see the NOOCS manual (vol. 1) under the “Reference Library” Tab above.
Note 1: Completed AEGIS Combat System Officer or AEGIS PCO/PXO Course; and served as a CO, XO, CSO, WCO, FCO, CICO, or Operations Officer aboard a CG-47 or DDG-51 Class Ship; or Qualified as a TAO aboard a CG-47 or DDG-51 Class Ship.
