Aviation Accessions

The most common question for a TAR applicant is “What should I expect after being selected for re-designation?”  

You will receive notification from PERS-9 on the specific community that you were selected for and given an opportunity to either accept or decline the re-designation.

After all officers have accepted/declined, you will be contacted by the TAR Aviation detailer who will provide possible squadron options with a request for your preferences.

VR (Fleet Logistics Support)

Provides Navy unique fleet essential airlift worldwide.  New VR accessions will normally be detailed to one of the six C-40A squadrons or one of the five C-130T squadrons for their Department Head tour. 
 

C-40A "Clipper"

C-130T "Hercules"

Executive Transport 

Provides transportation for senior Navy leaders and typically requires an officer with previous VR experience.

VRM (Fleet Logistics Multi-Mission Wing)

To provide Pacific and Atlantic Fleet Logistics Multi-Mission (VRM) squadrons the ability to sustain lethality for Carrier Strike Groups of the Future through the timely, persistent air logistics missions and our nation demands anyplace in the world.

CMV-22B "Osprey"

VFC

Provides adversary support/training to the fleet.

VAQ

Provides operational support to the fleet.

Provides operational support to enable the Fleet Response Plan and overseas contingency operations.

Conducts Maritime Support Operations within the Expeditionary and Carrier Strike Group environment.

Conducts SCORE Detachment operations.

The Training Command community is divided into the Propeller (VTP), Helicopter (HT) and Jet (VTJ) communities.  The squadrons are mainly comprised of Active Component officers but there are TAR specific billets spread across each Training Wing.
