NARR/REF A ESTABLISHES POLICY AND PROCEDURES FOR SUBJECT AWARDS.//

RMKS/1.  It is my pleasure to announce the recipients of the Fiscal Year 2016 
Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) Safety Excellence Awards.  These prestigious 
awards recognize Navy and Marine Corps Units for unparalleled safety program 
achievements.

2.  The Fiscal Year 2016 Safety Excellence award winners are:
    a.  Afloat:  USS Chung-Hoon (DDG 93)
    b.  Ashore:  Trident Refit Facility, Kings Bay
    c.  Aviation:  Air Test and Evaluation Squadron TWO ONE (HX 21)
    d.  Emerging Center of Excellence:  Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort
    e.  Expeditionary:  2d Tank Battalion
    f.  Off-Duty:  Marine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron 2 (VMU 2)
    g.  Safety Integration in Acquisition:  Long Range Anti-Ship Missile 
(LRASM) System Safety Team

3.  Safety and risk management are indispensable to effectively prepare for 
and complete the Department of the Navy (DON) mission, whether at home or 
deployed in harm's way.  The accomplishments of these units are vivid 
examples of a strong commitment to the mission, safety excellence, the 
Nation, and to the DON as a world class safety organization.  These units 
have justly earned the right to fly my SECNAV Safety Flag for the next year.  
Congratulations to all the SECNAV Safety Excellence Award recipients.
