AMPN/MEMO Feds Feed Families Food Drive Campaign 2018//

RMKS/1.  On 15 July 2018, the U.S. Department of Agriculture kicked off the 
tenth annual Feds Feed Families food drive, requesting support from Federal 
employees to donate non-perishable food items to those in need.  The 
Department of Defense (DoD) is again participating in this years campaign and 
is soliciting our support.  The Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of 
Defense for Civilian Personnel is managing the drive for DoD.

2.  I encourage leadership involvement from all Navy and Marine Corps 
organizations to support this important and worthwhile initiative.  This is a 
valuable opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to helping people in need 
by partnering with local area food banks and installation family service 
centers.

3.  In 2017, the DoD collected 2.8 million pounds of donated food of which 
the Navy and Marine Corps team contributed over 800 thousand pounds.  The 
Department of the Navy (DON) was the single largest contributor in the DoD 
and I thank you all for your generous past support.

4.  The food drive runs through 18 October 2018.  Please encourage 
participation and voluntary donations again this year.  Additional
