AMPN/MEMO Feds Feed Families Food Drive Campaign 2019//

RMKS/1.  On 26 June 2019, the U.S. Department of Agriculture kicked off the 
annual Feds Feed Families food drive, requesting support from Federal 
employees to donate non-perishable food items to those in need.  The 
Department of Defense (DoD) is again participating in this years campaign and 
is soliciting our support.  The Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of 
Defense for Civilian Personnel is managing the drive for DoD.

2.  Due to the limited period of this campaign, I encourage leadership 
involvement from all Navy and Marine Corps organizations to support this 
important and worthwhile initiative.  This is a valuable opportunity to 
demonstrate our commitment to helping people in need by partnering with local 
area food banks and installation family service centers.

3.  In 2018, the DoD collected 2.2 million pounds of donated food of which 
the Navy and Marine Corps team contributed close to 300 thousand pounds.

4.  The food drive runs through 9 August 2019.  Please encourage 
participation and voluntary donations again this year.  Questions concerning
