In the past few weeks, I have been reminded of the incredible talent and commitment to service from the Department of the Navys (DONs) civilian employees. Each and every day, there are more than 200,000 men and women in about 500 different civilian occupations around the globe, performing valuable work to advance our mission and protect our nations freedoms alongside our Sailors and Marines. Amid an unparalleled event in our lifetime, your dedication to serving the public good and our Navy-Marine Corps team remains the constant that steadies the storm. You care. 2. This week, some of you will be working from home in make-shift offices, others are in the field, shipyards, and depots operating under new safety measures, and some are recuperating or caring for those recuperating from the virus. Despite the challenges and obstacles, you continue to develop new solutions for improving our services, maintaining our equipment and infrastructure, and supporting our Navy- Marine Corps team. 3. You are an extraordinary group of men and women who took an oath of service to our country and its people. I truly admire your tenacity and unwavering commitment to service and the valuable work you perform. As we begin Public Service Week (May 3-9), I want to take this opportunity to recognize the valuable work executed by the DONs civilian employees and express gratitude for your admirable service. 4.
