SUBJ/MEMORIAL DAY STATEMENT// 
 
RMKS/1.  To the Sailors, Marines, and civilians in the Navy and Marine Corps 
team, this Memorial Day please take a moment to remember those who made the 
ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.  From the Sailors aboard Old Ironsides to 
the Marines at Belleau Wood, and all who forged the unbroken chain through 
the fierce battles across the Pacific, through the bitter cold of Chosin 
Reservoir and the searing heat of the Central Highlands, from the seafloor to 
the sky through the twilight struggle and across the distant battlefields of 
the War on Terror.  We salute and remember them all. 
 
2.  Today, and every day, remember the true price of freedom, and the debt we 
can never repay.  Remember where we came from, and on whose shoulders we 
stand.  Make your service worthy of their sacrifice.  It is an honor to serve 
at your side.
