RMKS/1.  As the winter holiday season approaches, we extend greetings to our 
dedicated Sailors, Marines, civilians, and their families, valiantly serving 
around the globe.  Your service, whether at home or abroad, affords American 
families the ability to enjoy the holidays safely and securely. 
 
2.  While we remain vigilant in our COVID-19 mitigation measures such as mask 
-wearing and social distancing policies, we must remain just as diligent in 
recognizing other hazards and adhering to protocols that keep us safe, 
especially during the winter holidays.  Throughout this season, we too often 
lose members of our force to off-duty mishaps - particularly as a result of 
private motor vehicle accidents.  To avoid these mishaps, ensure you have a 
plan, exercise proper risk management, and apply sound judgement.  We want 
all of you to enjoy the holidays, but we need each of you back safely.  If 
conditions become hazardous for travel, act accordingly.  Arrange to return 
when conditions are safe and be ready to continue the fight as the best Navy 
and Marine Corps in the world. 
 
3.  We encourage each of you to take time to relax, recharge, and spend 
quality time with your family and friends.  In doing so, please also keep 
safety at the forefront of all your activities, and remind others to 
celebrate responsibly. 
 
4.  We send our heartfelt gratitude across the Naval Enterprise for your 
selfless service and support.  Your honor, courage, and commitment continue 
to inspire hope and unity.  We are humbled to serve by your side.  Enjoy the 
winter holidays and stay safe!
