RMKS/1.  On Monday, January 15, 2024, we honor the legacy, life and impact of 
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a renowned activist who tirelessly combated 
injustice and inequality in our world.  Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day (MLK
Day) is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service, 
reflected in the continuous theme of "Remember!  Celebrate!  Act!  A Day On, 
Not a Day Off!"  Through acts of kindness, compassion and civility, we honor 
the legacy that inspired our Nation.

2.  The Department of the Navy (DON) is committed to honoring Dr. King's 
legacy and removing workplace barriers impeding the recruitment and retention 
of a more diverse workforce.  Furthermore, the DON is unwavering in its 
promise to foster an inclusive environment where everyone is treated with 
dignity and respect.

3.  Dr. King once acknowledged that, "We may have all come on different 
ships, but we're in the same boat now."  In celebration of MLK Day, let us 
reflect on how we are the same, and respect how we are different, and 
recognize there is far more that unites us than divides us.

4.  I encourage every Sailor, Marine, and civilian to remember Dr. King's 
uncompromising hope that we would all live together as one Nation.  To learn
