RMKS/1.  This NAVADMIN announces the National Aeronautics and Space 
Administrations (NASA) selection of astronaut candidates for future space 
flight missions.  Applications will be submitted via the NASA vacancy 
announcement posted at USAJOBS.  All applications must be submitted 
electronically not later than vacancy announcement close date promulgated on 
the astronaut candidate selection process timeline webpage, 
http://astronauts.nasa.gov/content/timeline.htm. If selected by NASA, 
candidates can expect orders to report to NASA Johnson Space Center, Houston 
TX by August 2017.

2.  All applicants must apply for astronaut candidate selection on the 
USAJOBS website, http://www.usajobs.gov, during the specified timeframe.  
Candidates will have to create a USAJOBS account and apply for the vacancy by 
building an electronic resume.

3.  Commanders are encouraged to ensure widest dissemination of this program.  
Applicants will list their commanding officer as a reference on the 
electronic resume built in USAJOBS.  Command endorsement of applicants is 
required.  Commanders will be contacted for a personal assessment of 
applicant as a prospective astronaut and a recommendation for the requested 
duty.
