The Secretary of the Navy has approved the establishment of the Information Warfare Community (IWC) single competitive category for selection to rear admiral (lower half). All eligible active-duty Navy Oceanography, Cryptologic Warfare, Information Professional, and Intelligence officers will comprise the IWC. IWC officers serving in the grade of captain will compete for selection to rear admiral (lower half) as one competitive category. Selected officers will be assigned to the competitive category of Information Warfare Community (1860) following promotion to the grade of rear admiral (lower half). 3. The Secretary of the Navy has approved the establishment of the Acquisition Line Community (ACQ) single competitive category for selection to rear admiral. All eligible active-duty Navy line acquisition designated rear admirals (lower half) serving in the Unrestricted Line, Engineering Duty, and Aerospace Engineering Duty communities will compete for selection to Rear Admiral as one competitive category. Selected officers will be assigned to the Acquisition Line Community (1270) competitive category following promotion to the grade of rear admiral (lower half). 4. The following list indicates the name, Active-Duty List number, and date of rank of the senior and junior officers initially eligible (if applicable) for consideration for promotion in each competitive category listed as of the date of this NAVADMIN. Correspondence not originated by the eligible officer, including endorsements to the officer's letter, and letters written on behalf of that officer, must contain a written acknowledgement by the eligible officer that he or she desires that such correspondence be presented to the board. Correspondence without such acknowledgment is considered third party correspondence and will be returned. Classified correspondence will not be accepted. 6.
