This NAVADMIN solicits applications for Active Duty and Selected Reserve (SELRES) naval officers and Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) instructor volunteers to participate in the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) Blue and Gold Officer (NBGO) Program. Interested volunteers who meet the below criteria and as required by reference (a) are eligible to apply. 2. The Commander, Navy Recruiting Command (COMNAVCRUITCOM) established the NBGO Program to provide a cadre of trained volunteers to identify, recruit, counsel and assist NROTC scholarship applicants and ease the application submission process for all applicants. NBGOs will serve as mentors and subject matter experts on available NROTC scholarships, the application submission process and help ensure timely application completion. 3. General Program Guidelines. The NBGO Program consists of Active Duty and SELRES naval officers and NJROTC instructor volunteers. NBGOs will receive mandatory training from the COMNAVCRUITCOM staff with assistance from Naval Service Training Command (NSTC) Candidate Guidance Office (CGO). 4. Program Eligibility and Details a. NBGO volunteers must be Active Duty, SELRES or NJROTC instructors. Participation from NROTC alumni is highly encouraged. b. NBGOs must exemplify the highest standards of ethics, conduct and courtesy. c. NBGOs must support the missions of COMNAVCRUITCOM, NSTC and the NBGO Program and have a working familiarity of the admissions process and the life of a NROTC Midshipman. d. NBGOs are responsible for marketing NROTC scholarships in their respective area and encouraged to participate in the planning and execution of local marketing events, develop a close working rapport with high school influencers, NJROTC units and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math leaders in the area. e. NBGOs will work closely with the local Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NAVTALACQGRU) NROTC coordinator throughout the application process. It is the responsibility of the applicant with NBGO support, to ensure the application package is complete prior to submission to the NROTC coordinator. f. NBGOs are required to complete initial training prior to being designated an NBGO. Bi-annual refresher training will be required to remain current. g. NBGOs will be responsible for completing a monthly status report and sending via email to NBGO_program(at)navy.mil. h. Funding for marketing materials will be provided by COMNAVCRUITCOM. No funding will be provided for travel. 5. Application and Selection a. Interested volunteers should email applications to COMNAVCRUITCOM at NBGO_program(at)navy.mil. b. Application package should include at a minimum name, current location or duty station, contact number and a personal statement explaining why they desire to participate. c. NBGO applications will be accepted throughout the year. COMNAVCRUITCOM will solicit program participation semi-annually. COMNAVCRUITCOM will confirm and approve all NGBO participation request within five working days of receipt. 6.
