RMKS/1.  This NAVADMIN announces the 2023 recipients of the Captain Joy 
Bright Hancock and Master Chief Anna Der-Vartanian Leadership Awards.   
Congratulations to the following award recipients who were selected for their 
inspirational leadership, both on and off-duty:
    a.  Senior Officer:  CDR Cheryl A. Griswold, Naval Survival Training 
Center Miramar.
    b.  Junior Officer:  LT Andrea R. Howard, PCU NEW JERSEY (SSN 796).
    c.  LDO/CWO:  CWO3 Lureatha Harvey, U.S. Fleet Cyber Command/U.S. TENTH 
Fleet.
    d.  Senior Enlisted:  HMCM(SS/SW/EXW/AW) Amanda L. McDevitt, Commander, 
Submarine Force Atlantic.
    e.  Junior Enlisted:  HM1 Katy Jones, Navy Medicine Readiness and 
Training Command Beaufort.
 
2.  Established in 1987, the Captain Joy Bright Hancock and Master Chief Anna 
Der-Vartanian Leadership Awards are presented annually to honor the visionary 
leadership of Navy Service Members whose ideals and dedication foster an 
inclusive culture by furthering the integration of women into the Navy.
 
3.  Candidates were nominated by their commanding officers and officers-in-
charge with endorsements from their immediate superior in command.  The 2023 
winners were then selected from over 105 high-caliber nominations by 
convening boards composed of Chief of Naval Operations senior leaders.  For 
commands desiring feedback on nominations submitted this year or those 
seeking guidance regarding future nominations, contact the point of contact 
listed below.
 
4.  These awards will be formally presented at the Joint Women's Leadership 
Symposium, 29 June - 1 July 2023 in San Diego, CA.  Navy Personnel Command 
(PERS-4) will make travel arrangements for award winners.
