Synthetic Drugs

Synthetic drugs are human-made drugs that can have various mind-altering effects. These unregulated synthetic drugs are categorized as "new psychoactive substances" or NPS.
Know the Facts

•Use and/or possession of any synthetic drug is illegal for all service members and is punishable under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
•Synthetic drugs are known to cause multiple negative symptoms including elevated blood pressure, tremors, seizures, vomiting and abdominal pain. 
•The chemical blends in synthetic drugs are continuously manipulated, and the strength of the synthetic chemical used is unknown; therefore, there is no way to know what you are ingesting or the ‚Äčlong-term health risks. 
•Synthetic drugs can negatively impact your paycheck, rank, Navy career and health.
Synthetic Cannabinoids

Synthetic cannabinoids, known as "K2" or "spice," are any of several human-made chemicals that act on the same brain cell receptors as tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, the main chemical compound in marijuana. Synthetic Cathinones
Synthetic cathinones, known as "bath salts," are human-made chemicals that are related to cathinone, a chemical found in khat, a mild stimulant plant native to East Africa and the southern Arabian peninsula. Synthetic versions of cathinones can be much more powerful than the khat plant.
