Information Warfare Line Overview
Welcome to the Information Warfare Line (IWL) Manager’s page.  Our communities provides three core capabilities of Assured Command and Control, Battlespace Awareness and Integrated Fires: which are central for All Domain Access and the EMW concept. We master the tradecraft for planning, integrating, and executing information-related capabilities and operations to produce joint effects within all domains. IWL is comprised of the Navy's subject matter experts on space, cyberspace operations and the electromagnetic spectrum. More
information can be found in the Information Warfare Line Tri-fold Handout.

The IWL Officer Community Managers collectively manage the health and welfare of officer communities with Oceanography (1800), Cryptologic Warfare (1810), Communications Systems Warfare (1820), Intelligence (1830), Cyber Warfare Engineer (1840), Maritime Space (1870), and Maritime Cyber Warfare (1880) designators.  For more information regarding the individual IWL communities, please select the appropriate link at the bottom of this page. Where appropriate, we are involved in LDO and CWO issues for 680X/780X, 681X/781X, 682X/782X, and 683X/783X designators.  The community manager for the LDO/CWO designators can be found at the LDO/CWO community manager web page.

Information Warfare Line Mission

Prospective IWL Officers
If you are new to the Navy or a training attrite, please contact the OCM of the community you are interested in for information so you can make the most informed decision.

If you are interested in a Lateral Transfer:
Lieutenant Commander applicants for 1820/1830/1840/1870/1880 with more than two years TIG should contact the respective OCMs to discuss milestone and performance requirements. All OCEANO, Intel, and MSO applicants must be eligible for TS/SCI or include a letter from a SSO indicating successful completion of an SCI pre-screening interview. All CSWO, CW, CWE, and MCWO applicants MUST complete an SCI eligibility pre-screening interview with the Fleet Cyber Command Security Directorate Field Office at (850) 452-6868 only, regardless of current clearance held/eligibility status and submit the results as part of their application. Officers who apply for CSWO, CW, CWE, and MCWO who either fail to complete the Fleet Cyber Command SCI prescreen, or receive an “unfavorable” determination, are automatically ineligible for LATXFER to those communities. Fleet Cyber Command SCI prescreen letters will be accepted after the package due date, but must be completed, “favorable,” and received by the gaining OCM prior to the board convening. All officers must be world-wide assignable and fit for full sea duty (MCWO is exempt from the sea duty requirement).

Specific community questions should be directed to the appropriate OCM, links provided on the left.

IWL Officer Reserve Recall
Periodically, the IWL will advertise reserve recall opportunities.  These opportunities are managed by the IWL OCMs.  To apply for a recall, please follow the guidance at the reserve officer recall website.  All IWL reserve recall packages should be submitted to the appropriate IWL OCM.
