The mission of the TAR officer distribution branch is

• To assign the most qualified officers to meet the needs of the Navy.
• To assign officers to billets which develop their professional expertise and which allow them to acquire the leadership, technical, and managerial skills necessary to achieve the mission of the Navy.
• To reasonably assign officers to ensure continued professional motivation and dedication to the Navy.
