Navy personnel surveys are a valuable means of collecting information from Navy military and civilian personnel about various aspects of naval service and civilian employment. They provide data which enable Navy managers to make informed decisions. The Navy Survey Office serves two purposes in the completion of surveys:

First, the Navy Survey Office administers the Navy’s survey policy (OPNAVINST 5300.8C). All surveys of Navy military and civilian personnel must be reviewed and approved by the Navy Survey Office. The goal of the policy is to manage coordination and control of surveys in order to maintain quality, minimize the impact of survey administration on Navy OPTEMPO, and provide for the life-cycle management of Navy surveys.

Second, the Navy Survey Office is staffed by Research Psychologists, Sociologists, and Analysts available to assist with your data collection efforts that are trained in experimental design, survey design, and statistical analysis reviews. The Navy Survey Office has several tools available to commands interested in gathering survey data that have been approved for the collection of data from Navy personnel in accordance with DoD and Navy information management and control regulations.
