General Description

Cyber Warfare Technician offers a career in computer Networks.  CWTs perform a variety of duties associated with computer network operations across global networks.  About 2,300 men and women serve worldwide in the CWT rating.  Advanced training in computer network operations, using state-of-the-art technology is readily available.  Within a short period, today’s CWT quickly develops highly marketable computer network skills.  A combination of technical and analytical computer network skills provides solutions to produce Cyber capabilities and non-kinetic effects in support of operational commanders and national intelligence requirements.  Initial training is located in Pensacola, Florida.

  • Digital Forensics Analysis

  • Digital Network Analysis

  • Exploitation Analysis

  • Interactive Operations

  • Expeditionary Operations

  • Research and Development

  • Cyber Planning

 

Working Environment
CWTs are assigned to computer networking system departments and divisions.  They may be assigned to either day work or shift work in a large facility or one of the individual or two-person independent duty assignments at sea or ashore.  Departments and divisions are usually divided into specialized mission area shops and are normally air-conditioned, well-lighted, and completely equipped.

Requirements

  • There are three ASVAB avenues to qualify for CWT

    • AR + 2MK + GS >= 255
      -or-

    • VE + AR + MK + MC >= 235
      -or-

    • CT + MK +VE >= 173 -and- CT >= 60
      Note: Cyber Test (CT) requirement is for new accession Sailors entering service after 30SEP2016

    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
      Notes: The applicant must be U.S. citizen and his/her immediate family members must be either U.S. citizens or citizens from a country on the ICD 704 low risk country matrix. Moral turpitude offense(s) are generally disqualifying. Personal security screening interview will be conducted by a Naval Cyber Forces Command special security representative. Former members of the Peace Corps are not eligible. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent (GED, CPT, home study or other equivalency)
