JOINT COMMUNICATIONS UNIT (JCU)


 

The Joint Communications Unit (JCU) delivers global, technological solutions for the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) and Special Operations Forces (SOF). JCU provides innovative, leading-edge solutions through continuous research, development, testing, and evaluation of the SOF information environment and proven technologies to the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). JCU members are trained to be communications experts and are afforded uncommon opportunities as a member of a unique team that maintains the highest state of readiness. JCU's mission enables unit personnel to receive a wide range of training, including UHF and SHF satellite systems, LAN, WAN, Servers, Active Directory, Networking, VOIP, VTC, Video Distribution, fiber system installation, and advanced tactical communication scenarios on various air, land, and sea platforms.

Applicants

▪ Must be a U.S. citizen
▪ Must meet minimum 4-year OBLISERV requirement (upon selection)
▪ Must have NO NJP, civil convictions, or ARIs within the past 3 years
▪ Must complete assessment and selection prior to entering 12-month PRD window
▪ Must not have any significant financial problems
▪ Must not have any medical problems that prevent physical activity
▪ Must be on Active Duty in the US Navy. FTS applications will not be accepted
The Joint Communications Unit application process consists of three phases and requires dedicated time and effort from an applicant. Interested candidates should submit their application 12-18 months out from their PRD.

Phase I

▪ Candidate completes and returns application package with the following:
▪ Copies of last five evaluations or as many as you have
▪ Copy of Records Review (Enlisted Summary Report (ESR) and PRIMS Data)
▪ Copy of Physical Fitness Test taken within 30 days of application submission 
▪ Candidate’s leadership completes and submits the Leader Evaluation Form
Please ensure all documents are up-to-date and submitted with the application package.
You formally enter the recruiting process when JCU receives all Phase I requirements.

Phase II

▪ The Recruiter conducts an initial screening of the application for completeness - Packet is forwarded to the Personnel Section for Branch/Detailer/Monitor approval
▪ Packet is screened by the Chain of Command for approval - Medical record screening
▪ Candidate is notified of approval/disapproval for Phase III

Phase III

Candidate is brought TDY/TAD to Fort Bragg, NC (funded by JCU):
▪ Physical Fitness Assessment (Candidates will take a physical assessment consisting of 2 minutes of Pushups, Timed Plank, Pullups, a 3-mile Run, and a Ruck Sack March)
▪ Psychological Evaluation 
▪ Technical Evaluation
▪ Security Screening
▪ Candidate appears before JCU Selection Board
For Phase III, you are brought TDY/TAD to the unit (funded by JCU). The JCU recruiter will coordinate your on-site activities and answer your questions. The selection board consists of members from various elements within JCU. You will be notified if you are eliminated from consideration for any reason.

JOINT SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMMAND INTELLIGENCE BRIGADE (JIB)


 

The JSOC Intelligence Brigade (JIB) prepares assigned, attached, and augmentation forces, and when directed, provides intelligence support to special operations conducted against threats to protect the Homeland and U.S. interest abroad. The JIB develops, evaluates, and employs emerging technologies to advance intelligence gathering techniques and capabilities for USSOCOM.

Applicants

▪ Must be a U.S. citizen
▪ Must meet minimum 4-year OBLISERV requirement (upon selection)

Phase I

Phase II

▪ The JIB Recruiting, Assessment, Selection, and Training Troop conducts initial screening of application through the Salesforce portal

▪ Application is forwarded to Personnel Section for concurrence

▪ Application is screened by the Chain of Command

▪ Medical Records are screened by JIB Medical

▪ Security Questionnaire is reviewed by the SSO

▪ Candidate is notified of approval or disapproval for Phase 3

Phase III

Candidate is brought TDY/TAD to Fort Bragg, NC (Funded by JSOC)

▪ Service-specific Physical Fitness Test

▪ Psychological Exams and Interview

▪ Knowledge-Based Test and Skills Verification

▪ Security Interview

▪ Selection Board

The following IW ratings are currently eligible for assignment to JIB: CTR / CTI / IS / IT / PS / LS
