EOD Officer Boards

Admin Boards
EOD Officers will appear in front of up to four screening boards during a career:  Department Head, Executive Officer, Commanding Officer, and Major Command.  The EOD CO/XO/DH Board is held annually in December, with a majority of the board membership being EOD officers.  The EOD Major Command screening board is held annually as a subset of the Surface Warfare Major Command Board.

Official Records and Board Records.  Officers are responsible for ensuring that their official records are fully updated before the board convenes.  This should be done at least two months prior to the board convening date to ensure that NPC has enough time to update the record data base.  Updates conducted within two months of the convening date should be sent directly to the board via Electronic Submission of Selection Board Documents (ESSBD) for all Administrative Screening Boards.  Updated information sent in this fashion will correct your Board Record only;  your permanent record will not reflect these changes.  Please see our Officer Record Management Brief.pdf for methods to update both records.

Board Correspondence and Letters of Recommendation.
All Correspondence (FITREPS, Awards, Qualifications, LORs) should be sent directly to the board via ESSBD:
ESSBD USER GUIDE (v2).pdf
All enclosures must have the member's full SSN to ensure proper scanning into the board record system.  All LORs must be submitted as enclosures to the officer's submission.  LORs not sent via the officer will be rejected by the board.  Examples of instances where a LOR is appropriate include:
•When a previous Reporting Senior desires to provide more detail, or further explain circumstances, regarding a FITREP
•When a current Reporting Senior would like to discuss performance because a period FITREP has not been completed yet
•A senior officer, who was not your Reporting Senior but in your Chain of Command at one time, would like to comment on your performance
•A senior officer would like to comment on your future potential
Official Photograph.  MILPERSMAN 1070-180 requires that all officers records contain a full length color photo in the officer's current grade.
