Force Master Chief


 
Force Master Chief Detje, a native of Danbury Connecticut, enlisted in September of 1989. He completed Recruit training in Orlando and Electronics Technician “A” School in Great Lakes, IL.

His first duty station was USS OLDENDORF (DD-972) stationed out of Japan and Long Beach and San Diego, CA. His duties included work center supervisor for Communications Repair. In September 1995 he transferred to Allied Command Atlantic Communications Logistics Depot in Yorktown, VA, where he served as a high-speed data technician and installer.

He reported in January 1999 to USS O’BANNON (DD-987) homeported in Mayport, FL where he was assigned as work center supervisor and leading petty officer of CE Division.  Here he earned recognition as the Sailor of the Year for Commander Naval Surface Group Two.

In August 2002 he was assigned as a detailer for Special Sea Programs at Naval Personnel Command, where he oversaw the manning and training of numerous DDGs, LPDs and CNO Special Projects. In September of 2003 he was selected to Chief Petty Officer.

He reported in June of 2005 to USS GETTYSBURG (CG-64) homeported in Mayport, FL, where he was assigned as LCPO of CE Division and Combat Systems Department. He was advanced to senior chief petty officer in 2007.  In August of 2008, he was assigned to Training Support Center Great Lakes. He was promoted to Master Chief and selected to the Command Master Chief Program in February of 2011, upon which he attended Command Leadership School.

Master Chief Detje, served as the Command Master Chief of USS CHUNG-HOON (DDG-93), the U.S. Navy Ceremonial Guard in Washington, DC, as the Command Master Chief for Navy Recruiting Region East and most recently as the Command Master Chief of Naval Forces Korea.

Force Master Chief Detje, reported to his current assignment as the Force Master Chief of Navy Personnel Command in July of 2020.
