When can I apply for the LCAC Program?
You must apply prior to entering your MyNavyAssignment (MNA) 12-month window. Often times class seats are full up to a year and a half out; reach out earlier to ensure you can find an opening.
What are the rating requirements?
Craftmaster is open to all Chief Petty Officer ratings.
Engineer is open to E-5 and E-6 personnel in the AD, AE, AF, AM, AT, AV, AWF, AWV, DC, EM, EN, GS, GSE, GSM, HT, IC, MM, MMA, MR ratings.
Navigator is open to E-5 through E-7 personnel in the AT, AWF, AWO, AWR, AWS, AWV, ET, ETV, FC, MN, OS, QM Ratings.
Deck Engineer is open to E-5 and below personnel in the AD, AE, AM, AT, AWF, AWV, DC, EM, EN, GSE, GSM, HT, IC, MM, MR Ratings.
Loadmaster is open to E-5 and below personnel in the ABH, BM, GSE, GSM Ratings.
Will I receive any extra money being assigned as an LCAC crewmember?
Craftmaster currently receive $225.00, Engineers and Navigators receive $150.00 per month in Special Duty Assignment Pay.
Is the LCAC program open to FEMALES?
Yes, All positions are open to Females.
How long is the training and where is it?
For Craftmaster, Engineer and Navigator:
Formal training is conducted at EWTGLANT, Little Creek, VA. or EWTGPAC, Coronado, CA for roughly three months. This is followed by two months of advanced training at ACU-4 or ACU-5.
For Deck Engineer or Loadmaster:
Formal training is conducted at ACU-4 or ACU-5 for roughly two months.
Will I receive Sea Pay?
Currently ACU-4, 5 and NBU-7 Sailors only receive Sea Pay while embarked onboard a Ship.
What will my Prescribed Sea Tour be?
Initial PST's are set at 5 years for ACU's 4 and 5. NBU-7 is 2 years unaccompanied and 3 years accompanied.
Where are the Assault Craft Units (ACU) located?
ACU-4 is located at Naval Amphibious Base, Little Creek, Virginia. ACU-5 is located at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, CA, approximately 50 miles north of San Diego, and NBU-7, Sasebo, JA.
What do I need to do to get into the LCAC program?
First step is to contact the LCAC detailer to see about availability and ensure that you meet the eligibility requirements. Once you have confirmed both, you must contact your rating detailer be released. Once this is completed, you will receive a nomination message outlining the requirements that must be completed. Thirteen months prior to your class convene date, you will receive a medical screening message to complete the LCAC physical requirement’s. As you complete any parts of the screening contact the LCAC detailer and provide the documents.
