Shoes, Dress (Black/Brown/White)


 
 Description

a. Males
Plain toed, oxford style black, brown, or white, low quarter, lace shoe, made of smooth leather or synthetic leather. The heel shall be an outside heel 3/4 inch - 7/8 inch high with a flat sole.

b. Females
(1) Dress Pumps will be plain black, brown or white, made of smooth or synthetic leather, with closed heels and toes. The heels will be 5/8 inch to 3 inches in height (measured from the bottom and back of the heel to where it connects to the shoe), and no wider than 1-3/4 inches at the base. The sole will be no thicker than 1/4 inch. Wedge heels are not authorized. The outsole and heel will be black for black and brown shoes.  White pumps will have white heels with black or neutral outsoles.
 
(2) Flats will be plain black, brown or white, made of smooth or synthetic leather, slip-on, rounded with closed toe and heel.  The opening of the Flat will be elongated and extend from the heel to the base of the toe mirroring the shape and appearance of the female dress shoe.  When worn, the outsole and heel will be black for black and brown shoes.  White flats may have black or neutral colored outsoles no thicker than a 1/4 inch.  The outsole will be made of non-marking rubber with a traction design and have a heel between 1/4 and 1/2 inches.
 
(3) Dress shoes will not have visible ornamentation, designs or decorative stitching. The outsole will also be made of non-marking rubber with traction design.


Correct Wear
Males:
Keep well shined and in good repair. Lace shoes from inside out through all eyelets and tie.
a. For shipboard restrictions, refer to article  1101.5.
b. Navy certified brown leather shoes and khaki socks are optional for Personnel E-7 and above with khaki uniforms.

Females:
Dress pumps will be worn in the same manner as dress shoes. Flats will be worn with the bridge of the foot uncovered and no portion of the toes will be exposed.  When wearing pumps or flats, hosiery is optional. Hosiery when worn will be flesh tone (article 3501.29). When not wearing hosiery, no-show socks or foot liners will be worn for hygiene purposes and to minimize foot abrasions and blisters.
