Overview

The U.S. Department of Justice’s Report and Recommendations Concerning the Use of Restrictive Housing includes a series of “Guiding Principles” which are intended as best practices of correctional facilities within the American criminal justice system.  These aspirational principles serve as a roadmap for correctional systems and the basis for Navy correctional policy contained in BUPERSINST 1640.24.
