TAR ISPP Selects (All other designators)

Congratulations to TAR’s first ever ISPP Selects!  The Spring FY-23 ISPP Board was an extremely competitive process which speaks directly to the outstanding quality and performance of our TAR Sailors across the Navy!  This CNR initiative is designed to provide an opportunity for those TAR Sailors who show potential and desire to become high performing officers.  To those driven Sailors, please monitor for future board NAVADMINs and continue to apply!  The TAR Officer Corps needs highly qualified and dedicated candidates from across the force, at all rates and paygrades, both junior and senior.

The Training and Administration of the Reserves (TAR) In-Service Procurement Program (ISPP) sends qualifying TAR enlisted selectees to Officer Candidate School (OCS) for commissioning as a TAR officer.  Applicants will be chosen by an administrative board to coincide with the semi-annual TAR Officer Lateral Transfer/Redesignation Board.

Applicants may apply for the following designators:
1117 – TAR Surface Warfare Officer
1207 – TAR Human Resources Officer
1287 – TAR Permanent Professional Recruiter
1527 – TAR Aviation Maintenance Duty Officer
3107 – TAR Supply Officer

Basic Eligibility Requirements:

- Completed a baccalaureate degree program from a regionally accredited institution
- Six months time in service
- Completed initial enlisted training pipeline

Additional Application Requirements:
- Applicants must meet prescribed qualifications in line with the TAR ISPP program authorization (PA).  For additional age, education, and physical qualifications applicants should refer to the RC designator PA for which they are applying as well as OPNAVINST 1420.1B, Chapter 4.  SWO applicants should refer to the AC SWO PA.  In addition, three officer interviews are required in accordance with OPNAVINST 1420.1B, Chapter 4.  Interviews can be conducted separately or simultaneously by a panel of officers.  The rank of the interviewing officer(s) will be in accordance with the respective Reserve PA guidelines, but no lower than O3 if not specified.

The below locations are the available duty stations for Permanent Professional Recruiter Officers (1287).  The number of billets per location are determined by market research.   Upon selection, the PERS-46 HR Detailer will coordinate location-preference submissions for slating prior to the selected Officer’s acceptance of redesignation.  Members may have the opportunity to remain in the same geographical location for the duration of their time in service, but may also be required to relocate based on the needs of the Navy IAW with the PPR program. Applicants who desire a location that is not on this list, but who’s permanent residence is within 50 miles of a Navy Reserve Center are welcome to apply.
