Definite Recall

Navy Reserve Definite Recall and Canvasser Recruiter Programs

(PERS-92)

WHAT IS THE DEFINITE RECALL PROGRAM?

Definite recall of SELRES personnel, both officer and enlisted, is intended to be a constructive part of a Navy Reserve member’s career. It is voluntary and temporary, and is not designed as a career ACDU program. The purpose of the definite recall programs are to fill gapped or vacant Active Component (AC) and Reserve Component (FTS) billets. Definite recalls afford commands greater and more efficient access to Reserve Component (RC) resources, further expanding RC support to AC/FTS. Recalls also provide RC members with career enhancing opportunities and meaningful work, as well as the pay and benefits to which they are entitled when on ACDU. Definite recall orders range from 12 to 36 months in length.

WHAT IS THE CANVASSER RECRUITER PROGRAM?

The Canvasser Recruiter (CANREC) Program is designed primarily as a temporary recall program for production recruiters to execute the Navy recruiting mission. Personnel eligible to apply for the CANREC program are:  Active Duty Navy (within 90 days of separation), IRR Navy and Drilling Reserve Navy. Initial orders are for two years.  CANRECs can be continued for an additional 12, 24 or 36 months, based on individual performance and command endorsement.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BENEFITS I AM ELIGIBLE FOR ON DEFINITE RECALL / CANREC?

If selected to fill a Definite Recall or CANREC billet, you are eligible to receive all active duty pay and benefits. These include potential for international travel, ACDU base pay, Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH), Basic Allowance for Subsistence (BAS), Healthcare and Dental Benefits, Educational Benefits, 30 Days of Leave earned annually, and other benefits as determined by duty assignment.
