The Officer Definite Recall Program is designed to give Selected Reserve (SELRES) officers the opportunity to fill gapped or vacant billets across the Active Component (AC) and Reserve Component (TAR - Training and Administration of the Reserves) communities. This is a completely voluntary program and includes duty stations across the Navy, to include OCONUS and CONUS installations, the United States Naval Academy, JAG Corps, Chaplain Corps, ships, squadrons, and Navy Reserve Centers (NRC). All recalls are on a temporary basis, not to exceed a total of 36 months in length. There are two programs within the officer definite recall program: The Active Component (AC), MPN-Funded, Definite Recall Program for Officers and the Navy Reserve 3-Year Recall Program.
*For more information regarding the Definite Recall program, please email Pers-92@navy.mil with the Subject "Officer Recall".
Both programs were established to:
1. Fill Military Personnel Navy (MPN) and Reserve Personnel Navy (RPN) billets to accomplish the Navy mission, and
2. offer active duty opportunities to Reserve Officers to enhance their Selected Reserve careers.
These are billets in which:
1. no AC/TAR Officers are currently available to fill them, or
2. there are no AC/TAR Officers with the billet's designator; i.e. 1440, 1610, 1650, 2X00, 5100, or
3. a SELRES Officer's experience/perspective are particularly well-suited for the billet, i.e. a billet at Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).
CURRENT RECALL OPPORTUNITIES
Coordinating with the Officer detailers, PERS-9 advertises the billet as a recall opportunity for SELRES Officers. Advertising is accomplished via the Navy Reserve Homeport Operational Support Zip Serve Portal:

Generally, opportunities will be advertised for at least two (2) weeks before an established application deadline.
To find the advertisements, members should change the "Duration of Orders Max (days)" from 365 to 1096 and change the "Order Type" to "Definite Recall".

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I know if my package is missing anything?
PERS-92 will email you directly if there is anything missing from your package; however please ensure you fully read the Billet Advertisement and submit a completed package the first time to maximize the chances of selection. Some commands will make their selections prior to the close of the advertisement, so the earlier that a completed application is submitted, the better. If the missing documentation is not submitted by the time the commands are making selections, incomplete packages will not be considered.
How will I know if I have or have not been selected for a billet?
Once selections have been made, either the command or PERS-92 will contact all applicants and advise them of their selection status.
Once I am selected for a billet how long does the process take before I get my orders?
Depending on the billet start date, it could take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks for the orders to be processed.
How do I receive my orders?
PERS-92 will email you your orders as well as send them in message traffic.
