LATERAL CONVERSION MPM 1440-010

For current ACTIVE or TAR Sailors

CONVERSION VIA MNA

Billet base conversion requests within the same component (Active or TAR) shall be adjudicated within MyNavy Assignments (MNA). The Enlisted Community Manager (ECM) sets conversion (In or Out) quotas each MNA cycle. The Sailor applies for a conversion billet and that rating detailer reviews all applications and makes the selections that best suits the Navy’s requirements and the Sailor’s desires.

CONVERSIONS REQUIRING “A” SCHOOL
(NO-PACKAGE REQUIRED)
For current ACTIVE or TAR Sailors wanting to convert to the following:

AG / AME / BU / CE / CM / ET / FC / FCA / GSE / IC / MN / PR / QM / STG / SW / UT

Submit for conversion no later 13-18 months before your PRD.

Requests must be submitted to MyNavy Career Center (MNCC), who will upload the request into Salesforce and transmit to BUPERS-328 (Active duty) or BUPERS-352 (current TAR Sailors) for adjudication.

Requests must include NAVPERS 1306/7, PRIMS, and last three EVALs.

All SELRES E-1 through E-6 less than 14yrs (excluding CPO selectees) lateral conversion requests will be processed using the C-WAY conversion module. Conversion quotas for SELRES are based on a rating and paygrade combination. CCCs assist SELRES Sailors in submitting a conversion application in C-WAY. SELRES conversions requiring formal school training are reflected when applying in C-WAY. SELRES Rating ECM reviews all applications and makes the selections that best suits the Navy’s requirements and the Sailor’s desires.

FORCED CONVERSION - MPM 1440-011

For all ACTIVE/TAR/SELRES Sailors

Forced conversions must not be used in lieu of disciplinary or medical procedures, or to relieve the command of a substandard performer. Only submit forced conversion requests for Sailors who are recommended for retention, have potential for future Navy service, are capable and qualified to serve in requested ratings, and are not subject to administrative separation proceeding.

All Forced Conversion requests must be submitted to MyNavy Career Center (MNCC), who will upload the request into Salesforce and transmit to BUPERS-328 (Active Duty) or BUPERS-352 (SELRES/TAR) for adjudication.
