Purpose
: The Enlisted Supervisor Retention Pay (ESRP) Program is a compensation option for supervisory level Sailors who have a skill set that has been defined as a "critical skill" IAW 37, U.S.C. section 331. The program became effective on 5 November 2004 and is designed to take a large step towards the proper compensation of those Sailors with certain skill sets who are willing to make the Navy a career choice.

:
Total bonus cap is $30K/year of AOS ($2,500/month of AOS) or $40K/year of AOS ($3,333.33/month of AOS) for N33Z Zone B reenlistment. As an example, a 4 year reenlistment adding 37 months of AOS will be capped at $92,500.00 or a N33Z reenlistment adding 42 months of AOS will be capped at $140,000.00. Total bonus is capped at $100K/reenlistment or $120K/reenlistment for 6 year Zone B or $160K/reenlistment for N33Z Zone B. ESRP bonuses are capped at $150,000 for each zone. Lifetime SRB and ESRP cap is $480,000 for all nuclear ratings.

Administrative procedures for ESRP are outlined in NAVADMIN 055/23 above. Further program details are provided in the ESRP Policy Memo (links to both are above).
The basic calculation shown below can be used to estimate the amount of the SRB/ESRP due. Consult with your Command Career Counselor for an accurate determination in accordance with the latest guidance.

Example
: ETN3(SS)(N13O) with over 2 years of service reenlists for 72 months (48 months beyond present obligation, excluding non-executed extension)
$2892.97 (2025 Pay Table) x 48 x 5.5 / 12 = $63,645.34 (cap is $100K)
Approximately one half (minus taxes) will be paid at the time of the reenlistment, with the remaining amount paid in equal installments.
