Career Planning and Management
The Navy FAO MilSuite page is the one stop shop for individual Navy FAO career planning and management. Billet timing is highly volatile and tour ONSTA times change frequently due to extensions, early roll for career timing, medical issues, attaché selection, etc. The billet list is posted on MilSuite for general planning only. Contact the detailer for current timing.
The FAO Detailer is the primary point of contact for all FAO assignments. Even FAOs seeking to compete for nominative attache assignments must receive tour release from the FAO Detailer prior to submitting an application.
The standard detailing window for LT - CDR is 9-12 months prior to PRD, or 1-2 months prior to attache application window. As members of a small community in high-demand, Navy FAOs should expect assignment strictly to 1710 billets, with rare exceptions.
