Active Duty for Training (ADT) is intended to enhance or refresh existing skills that support military operations or future mobilizations. ADT is authorized for IRR members to allow full-time attendance at organized and specialized skill, professional development, refresher, and proficiency training. Emphasis is placed on those skills most likely to be needed during the first 30 days after mobilization.
The primary purpose of ADT is to maintain mobilization readiness and sharpen military skills. As such, IRR members utilizing ADT are assumed to have mobilization interest and may be contacted with recall opportunities. Mobilization from the IRR is currently on a voluntary basis.
ADT requests will not normally be approved for which members?
a. Enlisted personnel E3 and below.
b. Officers within 6 months of being subject to the attrition provisions of 10 U.S.C.
c. Reservists who are within 6 months of EOS or within 6 months of maximum age limitations, or within 6 months of approved retirement
Supporting Directive:
BUPERSINST 1001.39 CH-1
chapter 3 par. 312.2.f.
Can IRR members submit ADT request through NROWS?
No. IRR members do not enter their own orders in NROWS.
What are the requirements and how do I submit an ADT request?
ADT requests may be initiated by an IRR member and should represent a bona fide training or mission support opportunity. ASP ADT requests shall specifically include a mission support letter from the gaining command requesting ADT support and provide justification for ADT and any special reporting information or requirements.
ADT requests must be forwarded via:
E-mail:
askmncc@us.navy.mil
Phone: 833-330-MNCC
Or mail:
Commander
Navy Personnel Command (PERS-932)
5720 Integrity Drive
Millington, TN 38055
When this process is completed, the ADT clerk will mail or e-mail all required documents to the member within 10 days of the start of ADT.
Call 1-800-535-2699 if you require assistance with the ADT application process.
Supporting Directive:
BUPERSINST 1001.39 CH-1
chapter 3 par. 312.
How long can IRR members perform ADT?
A member of the IRR may generally perform up to 29 days of ADT with or without pay per year, or as otherwise approved.
Supporting Directive:
BUPERSINST 1001.39 CH-1
chapter 3 par. 312.
How long does it take to process ADT request?
A minimum of four weeks (CONUS) and eight weeks (OCONUS) is required for processing ADT request.
Who initiates order modification?
Modification to ADT orders including travel arrangements prior to execution must be initiated by contacting PERS-93. Modifications during ADT should be made through the servicing Personnel Support Detachment. When possible, it is recommended that any modifications to orders be made before the start of the ADT period.
How do I submit my travel claim?
Once ADT has been completed, contact PERS-93 at 833-330-MNCC within five days for directions on submitting your travel claim and documents for payment.
