VISITOR INFORMATION **
Pearl Harbor
General Information
Visitation Call is held on Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays. Visitation hours are normally 1330-1530, although changes may occur. Visits outside these hours must be made by special request by the prisoner and are approved only in very unusual circumstances. Visitors should arrive 30 minutes prior for check-in to ensure visitation starts on time. A picture ID is required. Improperly attired persons will be refused entry. Flip flops are not permitted. No cameras, cell/smart phones/smart watches, or other electronic devices are permitted. Visitors must be on the Mail and Visiting List and approved in advance of the visit.
Annually, around the last week of September there is a Miramar Air Show hosted on Miramar. Visitation will occur during the Miramar Air Show at the same time as regular weekend visitation, but please plan on traffic delays. Traffic is normally very heavy and the route to the brig can be delayed because of varied traffic patterns that support the air show.
Transportation is available to the brig by rental car. Taxi, UBER and Lyft may be available, but base access could be denied or delayed. Rental cars are available at the airport and rental car companies can be found in the Yellow Pages.
Dress Code
The uniform for prisoners and military members visiting in uniform will be clean and worn properly. The following civilian attire is considered inappropriate and guests wearing such attire shall be refused visitation:
Military clothing with ownership marking
Tank-top shirts
Cut-offs/unhemmed shorts/short shorts
Bare feet
Rubber shower shoes
Halters/tops which display the bare midriff
Any clothing revealing under garments or which is see-through
White undershirts as outer garments
Uncovered hair rollers
Any clothing or dress appearance that would affect good order and discipline.
Parking
Visitors driving their own vehicles should proceed to the entrance gate off Miramar Way and have picture ID (i.e. driver's license, government ID), automobile registration, and proof of auto insurance available in order to gain access to the base. Visitor parking is located in the east parking lot. Weekend and holiday visitors of prisoners may also park in front of the brig. Weekday parking in the west lots is by assignment. Contact the Parking Lot Coordinator at 858-307-7000 for a permit.
Official Visits
Official visits include attorneys, chaplains and parent command personnel (E6 and above). With the exception of Chaplains, military official visitors shall be in uniform. Official visits may occur at any time during normal working hours (0800-1630), Monday – Friday, not including Federal holidays. Prisoners shall submit a request at least 24-hours in advance to request official visits at any other time to ensure availability of the prisoner and the Commanding Officer’s approval. Attorney visits are normally not authorized during regular visitation hours that occur on Saturday, Sunday and Federal holidays from 1300-1500.
Prisoner Visitation Information
The visitor's entrance is located in building 7683. Personal identification in the form of a picture ID will also be required of each visitor in order to enter the brig visitation area. The picture ID will be exchanged for a brig visitor's badge at the time of visitor registration and it will be returned at the conclusion of the visit upon return of the visitor's badge. Children under the age of 16 and will not be required to surrender a picture ID.
Prisoners are not permitted to give or receive any objects to/from visitors. Photographs may not be viewed or received during visitation. Visitors are required to deposit handbags, luggage, packages, etc., in lockers provided prior to entering the Visitation Room.
Visitors under the age of 18 will not be permitted unless they are spouse or are accompanied by one of their parents. An exception can be made in the case of your legal dependents, if an adult accompanies the dependents. You are permitted to hold your children (infants to 5 years of age).
