Navy Gold Star & Surviving Family Member Representative
 
 
The Navy's appointment of a Gold Star and Surviving Family Member Representative (formerly known as the Gold Star Advocate) complies with current law and was established to provide assistance to the spouses and other dependents of service members, including the Reserve component, who die while on active duty.  Our work includes:
 
  • Providing support regarding casualty assistance or receipt of benefits authorized by law

 

  • Addressing complaints regarding casualty assistance or receipt of benefits authorized by law

 

  • Reporting the resolution of these complaints including recommendations regarding the settlement of benefits claims.

 

The Representative is available to survivors at any point in the casualty assistance process.  If you are a surviving Navy family member and would like to speak with a representative please call (877) 270-2162 and ask to speak with the Gold Star and Surviving Family Member Representative.
