4321. HEADGEAR INSIGNIA (CPO)
1. Cap Device (CPO). A Chief Petty Officer cap device consist of a gold fouled anchor with silver block letters "USN" superimposed on the anchor's shank. Senior Chief, Master Chief, Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy and Senior Enlisted Advisor, Chairman Joint Chief of Staff cap devices have one, two, or three silver stars are attached above the anchor's stock as follows:
2. Chin Strap. The chin strap is ½ inch wide made of black patent leather or vinyl, and adjusted to fit snugly against the cap. Wear the chin strap with the grommet to your left.
3. Headgear
a. Combination Cap. The Combination cap has a cap device as described above. Gold navy eagle buttons attach the black chin strap to the cap frame through a black mounting band. The cap device is attached to the mounting band with the stock's unfouled arm to the wearer's left.
b. Garrison Cap. Center a miniature CPO cap device on the wearer’s left side of the garrison cap, with the center of the device placed 2 inches from the front crease of the garrison cover and 1-1/2 inches from the bottom of the cover as shown in the figure below.
c. Navy/Command Ball Cap. Miniature CPO cap device insignia may be worn on the navy/command ball cap by E7-E9 personnel. Center the device on the front of the ball cap, and 1-1/4 inches above the visor as shown in the figure below.
