JOINT COMMUNICATIONS UNIT (JCU)
 
The Joint Communications Unit (JCU) delivers global, technological solutions for the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) and Special Operations Forces (SOF). JCU provides innovative, leading-edge solutions through continuous research, development, testing, and evaluation of the SOF information environment and proven technologies to the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).

JCU members are trained to be communications experts and are afforded uncommon opportunities as a member of a unique team that maintains the highest state of readiness. JCU's mission enables unit personnel to receive a wide range of training, including UHF and SHF satellite systems, LAN, WAN, Servers, Active Directory, Networking, VOIP, VTC, Video Distribution, fiber system installation and advanced tactical communication scenarios on various air, land, and sea platforms.  

Applicants:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Meet minimum 4 year OBLISERV requirement
  • Must have NO NJP, civil convictions, or ARIs within the past 3 years
  • Must complete assessment and selection prior to entering 12-month PRD window
  • Must not have any significant financial problems
  • Must not have any medical problems that prevent physical activity
  • Must be on Active Duty in the US Navy. FTS applications will not be accepted
The Joint Communications Unit application process consists of three phases and requires dedicated time and effort from an applicant. Interested candidates should submit their application 12-15 months out from their PRD. 
Phase I
Candidate completes and returns application package with the following:
  - Copies of last five evaluations or as many as you have
  - Copy of Records Review
  - Copy of Physical Fitness Test taken within 30 days of application submission
  - Candidate’s leadership completes and submits the Leader Evaluation Form



You formally enter the recruiting process when JCU receives all items identified in Phase I.

 Phase II
- The Recruiter conducts an initial screening of the application for completeness
- Packet is forwarded to the Personnel Section for Branch/Detailer/Monitor approval
- Packet is screened by the Chain of Command for approval
- Medical record screening
- Candidate is notified of approval/disapproval for Phase III

Phase III
Candidate is brought TDY to Ft Bragg, NC (funded by JCU):
- Physical Fitness Assessment (Candidates will take a physical assessment consisting of pushups, sit-ups, pullups, running, and a ruck sack march)
- Psychological Evaluation 
- Technical Evaluation
- Security Screening
- Candidate appears before JCU Selection Board 
For Phase III, you are brought TDY/TAD to the unit (funded by JCU). The JCU recruiter will coordinate your on-site activities and answer your questions. The selection board consists of members from various elements within JCU. You will be notified if you are eliminated from consideration for any reason.

JOINT CYBER OPERATIONS GROUP (JCOG)
JCOG conducts network vulnerability and intelligence systems assessments and computer network defense to optimize a secure, joint environment for special operations and intelligence organizations. When directed, JCOG conducts cyber operations for SOF against threats to protect the Homeland and U.S. interests abroad.

JCOG Sailors are:
Specially selected and trained.
Trusted with unique placement and access.
Tasked with solving the Nation's highest priority problems.


Selection Glidepath:

Initial Screening Criteria (Phase I):
- Be 12-18 Months from your projected rotation date & on station NLT 12 months
- Pass Service PT Test
- Possess a TS/SCI Clearance
- No Pending UCMJ Action

Once you meet Initial Screening Criteria (Phase II):
- Apply at our website & remain in contact with Screening Team
- Receive Branch Clearance
- Pass Medical/Security/Psychological Screening
- Determine date & attend Assessment, Training, & Selection (ATS)

If Screened and Selected successfully (Phase III):
- Attend JCOG 101
- Determine date eligible to PCS
- Remain in contact with J1 & Sponsor
- PCS to NCR / FT. Meade, MD (Phase IV):
- In-Process Group HQs w/ sponsor & move to respective unit
- Pass a CI Polygraph Test (as required)

JSOC INTELLIGENCE BRIGADE (JIB)
The JSOC Intelligence Brigade (JIB) prepares assigned, attached, and augmentation forces, and when directed, provides intelligence support to special operations conducted against threats to protect the Homeland and U.S. interest abroad. The JIB develops, evaluates, and employs emerging technologies to advance intelligence gathering techniques and capabilities for USSOCOM.
Applicants:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Meet minimum 4-year OBLISERV requirement
  • Must have NO NJP, civil convictions, or ARIs within the past 3 years
  • Must complete assessment and selection prior to entering 12-month PRD window
  • Must not have any significant financial problems
  • Must not have any medical problems that prevent physical activity
  • Must be on Active Duty in the US Navy.
The JSOC Intelligence Brigade application process consists of three phases outlined below. Interested candidates should submit their application 12-18 months out from their PRD. 
  • Phase I: Candidate completes and returns application package with the following:
  • Conditional release from detailer to screen for special duty
  • A copy of your PRIMS data
  • Member Data Summary
  • Last 5 evaluations
  • A full-length photo of yourself in civilian business attire
  •   Phase II: Candidate package is reviewed by the Command
  • The Recruiter conducts an initial screening of the application for completeness
  • Packet is screened by the Chain of Command for approval
  • Medical record screening
  • Candidate is notified of approval/disapproval for Phase III
  •  Phase III: Candidate is brought TDY to Ft Bragg, NC (funded by JIB):
  • Physical Readiness Test
  • Psychological Evaluation 
  • Technical Evaluation
  • Security Screening
  • Candidate appears before JIB Selection Board 
For Phase III, you are brought TDY/TAD to the unit (funded by JIB). The JIB Assessment & Selection team will coordinate your on-site activities and answer your questions. The selection board consists of members from various elements within JIB. You will be notified if you are eliminated from consideration for any reason.

NAVY EXPEDITIONARY INTELLIGENCE COMMAND (NEIC)
NEIC is a man, train, and equip command homeported in Virginia Beach, VA within Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC), providing tactical force protection/indications and warning intelligence collect, enabling Navy commanders to conduct missions across the full spectrum of expeditionary operations. With multi-intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) collection capabilities operating at the tactical level, NEIC has unique access to areas and environments -  from blue to green water, the costal littoral, and far inland - that are constrained by more traditional ISR assets.

NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE DEVELOPMENT GROUP (NSWDG)
NSWDG is seeking support candidates. These position are in Virginia Beach, VA, are are CNO Priority 1, Type 2 Sea Duty billets. Many of these jobs are part of research, development, testing, and evaluation efforts to determine suitability for use by the DoD, DoN, and Special Warfare Communities.

Applications are now being accepted for the CT Ratings to Naval Special Warfare Tactical Information Operations (TIO) Program.

TECHNICAL SURVEILLANCE OPERATOR

Duty is frequently isolated and independent and involves deployment with NAVSPECWARCOM personnel.  They are highly trained and equipped to provide critical technical surveillance capabilities in support of NSW Commander's intelligence requirements.  Executes hostile force-tagging, tracking, locating, geo-location, non-standard communications, unattended ground sensors, tactical audio, video, and photography operations in support of Special Operations Forces (SOF) mission sets utilizing sensitive equipment in the air, maritime, and ground environments.
