Notes from the Detailer.

“Anyone can hold the helm when the sea is calm.”

Ensure you’re familiar with the changes to detailing practices outlined in NAVADMIN 231/17.  All Sailors will follow their Sea/Shore rotation, which you can find in NAVADMIN 395/02.  If you’re a conversion in, your first tour will be at a Sea command. The option to apply for a job is yours.  If you submit no applications, the choice will be made for you.  Furthermore, even though you may not get selected for a job you apply for, at least you made an effort to shape the course of your career.  I am available and willing to communicate through phone or via email.  You do not have to be in your window to reach out, feel free to contact me anytime.
Shore opportunities continue to be a struggle, if you do not see shore opportunities available please, reach out to me.  I will also consider releasing you to a shore special program or applying for FAC G out of rate billets on a case by case basis.

Notes From the Detailer.

Please ensure you log onto My Navy Assignment when you are in your PRD window to apply for jobs.  Remember, you can apply for up to 7 jobs per month.  If you do not have access to view the advertised jobs, you can communicate with me via email or phone and I will gladly assist you.  Let me know what jobs you are interested in applying for and I will submit the applications on your behalf if you or your Career Counselor do not have access.
If you are on shore duty, you can plan to go to sea duty and vice versa.  Understand however, there may be times when there may be a shortage of TAR sea going billets particularly for the IT's.  If that is the case, aim to do something different in your career within the IT community, i.e. Staff Command, NRC, Seabee Unit, EOD, Seal Team or Instructor Duty.  A diverse Navy career will help immensely with your professional growth/development both as a Sailor and a person.
Thanks and have a FINE NAVY DAY!!!
